Take Care

LOCAL SOURCING has always been distinctive to us at MATTHILDUR  and luckily Peru, where we are based, produces its own natural fibers of the very highest quality.

Pima Cotton for example, is an original high performance fiber grown along the northern coastal regions where the soil is rich of moisture at near-perfect equatorial temperatures.

This quality of cotton has extra-long staples which results in unbelievably soft hands, extremely durable and highly resistant to pilling. Environmentally friendly hand-harvesting results in brilliant white fibers with a silk shine.

Our contemporary designs wish to provide women with garments for her busy lifestyle that combine style and comfort and MATTHILDUR collections appeal to the natural properties of this fiber to create knitwear, jerseys and woven designs to be used all year round with ease.

We would like you to take a minute to check the care label of your MATTHILDUR garments so that with a few simple measures you can preserve their finest qualities and extend their life.

Pima Cotton garments in jersey and woven fabrications respond well to machine wash in cold water and delicate cycle. Preferably use organic detergent, free of chemicals that can affect the brilliance of the color. No need for softeners, Pima cotton is naturally glossy and soft!

If you have the chance, leave them out to dry in the open, just like our grandmothers did; let your MATTHLDUR garment dry naturally in the  morning breeze.

Pima Cotton knits also prefer cold water and organic detergent but its best to hand wash them to avoid unnecessary stress. Once rinsed, squeeze them gently to get the dampness out and then lay them flat to dry. Possibly near an open window or a source of fresh air.

Taking care of your garments also means making responsible choices about sustainable practices. When choosing Pima Cotton you will not need to rely on Dry Cleaning because natural fabrics prefer natural choices.

On a more personal note we like to recommend not to wash your pima cotton clothes too often. Occasionally, hang them out to let the breeze take care of refreshing them for you.
